Grousemount Windfarm, Co. Kerry
Services:
Carried out operational noise monitoring of a 38 turbine windfarm with a 114 MW capacity in Co. Kerry. The assessment included a review of the proposed location, deployment of noise monitors, mid-survey checks, and completed data analysis of the same. The windfarm was adjacent to several other fields, so directional filtering was applied to determine operational noise levels.
Key issues:
Coordination of long-term noise monitoring, extensive data analysis, and reporting to ESTU-R-97 and the IOA Good Practice Guide for Windfarm Noise.
Project Description:
This project demonstrates an understanding of operational monitoring in locations with intermittently high background noise due to streams and rivers, as the ability to remove the contribution of adjacent fields from the monitoring data. The ability to communicate the technical analysis was also demonstrated with multiple stakeholders involved in the projects.
